Gredas de Bolnuevo
Gredas de Bolnuevo
Considered one of the most attractive and peculiar places in the Region of Murcia, Gredas de Bolnuevo was declared a Natural Monument of the Region of Murcia in 2019.

5 million years ago, during the terrestrial formation of the planet, the Strait of Gibraltar took place, which allowed the Mediterranean Sea to cease to be a salt lagoon.

After that, the water that raised the sea level entered and it occupied the aquatic spaces, that is, the marine transgression.

Thus, the marine currents dragged and deposited various materials that were compacted to create a marine platform.

The Gredas de Bolnuevo are, therefore, this relief subjected to a continuous wear of the wind and water.

Its name, Gredas, derives from the material finally achieved: a mixture between clay, silica and aluminum, a material highly appreciated by the potters' guild.
